First Baptist Church has a bold vision to increase our church's impact on our community.
Open Doors, Open Hearts is an important step in realizing that vision. In 2005, First Baptist developed a plan
which was put into place in order to align our ministry plans and our Core Values. The
Reaching campaign was the result of our planning. We realized that our church's ministry facilities would need significant changes in order to best support the areas where we felt God was leading First Baptist.
Reaching began a daunting project, one that required sacrifice from the entire church family. Families found ways to go above and beyond in their giving. Church offices were moved during construction. The Children's Learning Center was temporarily closed. Construction dust could be found on our Sunday best. We all adapted to different Sunday morning routines with classes in the Fellowship Hall and worship in the Gym.
Today the fruits of our sacrifice and generosity are evident. First Baptist has a beautifully renovated sanctuary. Our Fellowship Hall has been dramatically improved. The Chapel has been redecorated and updated. We also have incredible new "welcoming" spaces designed to encourage fellowship. Our Atrium welcomes friends and visitors alike with open arms, and is used daily as the central hub of our ministry facility. All of the classroom space in our Children's areas have been improved, and the addition of our new indoor playground is certainly the children's favorite spot. First Baptist youth now enjoy a Youth Suite which transformed a dark, cold cellar into a well lit Gathering area and classroom space that radiate energy and excitement.
Open Doors, Open Hearts continues the work that we began with
Reaching. We are now able to enjoy and utilize our new facilities. We are already reaching new segments of our community through our many outreach initiatives. New programs have begun and community organizations are now using our facilities. Imagine all of the possibilities, especially the ways that First Baptist will positively touch our community in the future.
