My First Visit to First Baptist Dalton

We have a sincere desire to welcome others into a friendly Christian fellowship. Providing parking and greeters are two of the ways we hope to make your visit pleasant from the start, but please ask anyone you see if you need some help. You will find that our congregation is warm, inclusive and diverse. We do all that we can to make guests feel appreciated without making them feel awkward.

Parking

We have marked Guest Parking that will locate you near the entrances. The Sanctuary entrance is on the east side of our campus. Easy access to children's classrooms, the Family Life Center and Sunday School classrooms is available on the west side of the building.

Finding your destination

Greeters will be available at all entrances and will help locate activities for you and all who attend with you.

Children

Children and their security are important to us. When bringing younger children, we request that you arrive in time to register them at our Preschool Center so that our security procedures, any allergies or special requests may be addressed. We take special care to provide activities that are founded in Biblical education, age appropriate and enjoyable for children. Our children's programs are organized by our Minister to Children and usually staffed by church members.

Parents should make the decision which is best for their family about including children in adult worship or Bible Study. Most preschool children (and infants) remain in their classroom learning environments (generally staffed by members) during these times. For 1st through 5th graders, our 10:55 a.m. Sunday service often includes a "Children's Sermon" when children come to the front for a few minutes of special attention and then return to their regular seats.

Attire

Wear a smile, your choice of dress is less important than your choice to visit!
On Sunday mornings our congregation wears anything from business/golf casual, dresses or slacks to Sunday best. Sunday nights and other activities are more casual, many members are coming from work or school and come as they are.

What to bring

You may want to bring a Bible with you, or you may borrow one in our classrooms and Sanctuary. If you visit during a covered dish or meal time, we do not expect you to bring anything, we simply hope you will stay and fellowship with us.

Our Services

Church services at F.B.C.D. are meaningful, relevant, up-to-date and our reverent offerings to God as worship. Sunday morning services are accompanied by an "Order of Worship," which acts as a guide or agenda for the services. The worship guide is a help to both members and guests in following the schedule for our joint worship. It offers text for readings or choruses and page numbers we will use from hymnals. These guides are provided by ushers at the entrance to the Sanctuary.

Bible study times on Sunday and Wednesday nights are often less formal. As they are study rather than worship, there is opportunity for feedback, discussion or questions from the group during the course of the study time
