The Reach Teams are established to address the core values: Genuine Witness; Intentional Missions; Sacrificial Living.
The Reach Teams are designed to satisfy the communication needs of the congregation, community and the world concerning ministries and opportunities within First Baptist Church Dalton. The group provides mediums for worship services to anyone interested and cultivates a culture that encourages anyone to share their ideas and concerns related to the life of the church.
Teams Established:
The Broadcast Formats Team studies and makes recommendations related to the various opportunities for the church to present its worship services and special events through various broadcast mediums such as television, radio, and the World Wide Web.
The Communication & Public Relations Team has two distinct functions. (1) Communication auditing and improvement within FBC; and, (2) Community image and public relations issues. This group continually strives to improve our internal communication. In addition, this team is working to define and portray an appropriate image of FBC to our community.
The First Touch Team is responsible for fostering a positive relationship with Visitors and Prospects of our church. Each Sunday afternoon, a pair from this team conducts a brief (5-minute or less) "front porch visit" with those that have completed a visitor card that morning. Along with a word of welcome, the visitors are provided a FBC coffee mug containing literature about our church. The visitor/prospect is then assigned to a team member for follow up. This relationship is nurtured by the member until the prospect joins our church, or makes the decision to pursue another church home.
Statistics show that first time visitors to a church form a lasting impression in only seven (7) minutes! In acknowledgement of this, our Greeters Team serves over 20 stations in and around our church for our Sunday morning services. They greet all of us with a handshake, a smile, and a warm welcome. This team looks to greet and welcome our current membership, but pays close attention to newcomers so that their initial experiences at FBC are positive. This team offers many vital services, such as valet parking for those with special needs, escorting newcomers to the nursery area and their classes, umbrella escorts, and identifying visitors and passing this information along to our Staff. This team is responsible not only for greeting, but looks broadly at how FBC can provide a warm and inviting atmosphere while on our grounds.
This team will work to assist our church with our computing, information, software, networking, and general technology needs.
We currently have over 80 Shut-In Members at First Baptist Church. Historically, the Ministerial Staff has been responsible for caring for these members and their families, with select support from our membership. With the formation of the Shut-In Team, the responsibility of keeping these members linked to our church has formally transitioned to the lay membership of this team. Each Shut-In has been assigned to a person(s) from this team. Each Shut-In receives at least one visit from their member per month. Many from this team have formed visitation partnerships, and visits are done as a group. In addition, we now have an archive with visit details so that we can assure that each Shut-In is receiving adequate touches by our membership, and that their specific needs are being met. The Shut-In Team has proven that this ministry is beneficial not only to the Shut-Ins and their families, but also personally rewarding.
The Web Development Team establishes and maintains the website of FBC (www.firstbaptistdalton.com). This team is constantly seeking opportunities to expand our ministries by providing efficient information flow regarding the life and ministry of our church. Although some technical skills are needed, other skills are vital to the success of this ministry, such as writing and photography.
