The Spiritual Formation Cluster addresses the core values: Biblical foundations; Integrity of Salvation; Sacrificial Living; Unified Community; Intentional Missions; Genuine Witness.
The Spiritual Formation - Discipleship Ministry of our church will provide opportunities for FBCD members to actively increase their Biblical literacy, providing diverse and innovative opportunities for education and discipleship, including but not limited to a program in which all members will learn about, discover and implement their spiritual giftedness.
Teams Established:
The Sunday School Team's responsibilities include evaluating all opportunities during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday School hour to increase biblical literacy within the congregation and enhance its spiritual formation. The team also reviews and plans curriculum in conjunction with the Pastoral Educator to support offerings for each class. Past offerings have included devotionals for Advent and Lent. The team also looks for new and innovative ways to build community within each class.
The Library Team offers many exciting opportunities for the congregation to utilize the resources found in our library. The team holds book reviews periodically and has many other events throughout the year.
PRAYER MINISTRY TEAM
The Prayer Ministry Team looks at ways to enhance the church members' personal prayer life as well as the corporate prayer life of the church. The team coordinates "prayer partners" for the 10:55 AM Service. Prayer cards have been included in the pew racks and are gathered just prior to the service so that the prayer partners can pray specifically for these needs during the service. The team is also working to equip members to feel comfortable as a prayer partner and has offered inspired devotional and prayer studies for various venues.
The Spiritual Gifts Team assisted in developing the Spiritual Gifts class that was offered to the church. The team also maintains the results of the church's Spiritual Gifts Inventory. This Inventory listing is utilized as a resource for many of the other ministry teams for potential members. The team operates "as needed" and is looking at offering the inventory and study once again at a future date.
