 Phillip Cannon
Pastoral Educator

Phillip is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia. In 1983, he graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky with a Master of Divinity in Religious Education. His experience includes Minister of Education in Tuscumbia, Alabama before he joined
First Baptist Dalton in 1986. Phillip has continued to accept increasing responsibilities at F.B.C.D. including Executive Director of First Foundation, Inc.
Phillip's wife, Patti, is a graduate of Shorter College. Patti also serves on our staff as Interim Minister of Music and Church Pianist.

Phillip and Patti have three children, Caroline, Rebekah and Chandler.

Patti Cannon
Interim Minister of Music

Patti has served as Interim Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Dalton since July, 2009.   She has served as pianist at First Bapitst since 1988.  As Interim Minister of Music, she coordinates a program that involves about 450 people in sixteen choirs and ensembles.   A native of Albany, Georgia, she is a graduate of Shorter College. Patti's husband, Phillip, serves as Pastoral Educator for FBCD.  They have been married for 26 years and have three children Caroline, Rebekah, and Chandler.

Derrell Grantham
Minister of Activities and Single Adults

Derrell is a native of Mississippi and a graduate of Columbus (GA) College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Masters in Religious Education.  His experience includes work with the Boy's Clubs of America in Georgia and Louisiana and he has served on staff at First Baptist in Mandeville, Louisiana and First Baptist in Ruston, Louisiana.  Derrell came to First Baptist Dalton in 1988.

Derrell's wife Susan works at Hamilton Medical Center and his daughter, Susanna, is an elementary school teacher in the Athens area.  She is also a graduate student at the University of Georgia.

Christian Byrd
Minister to Youth and Students

Christian is a native of Mississippi and a graduate of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS.  In 2007, he received a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  He served as a pastoral and ministry intern in Alabama and worked with Passport, Inc. before joining First Baptist Church, Dalton, in 2008.  Christian and his wife, Jennifer, have one daughter, Mary Elise.

Walt Windley
Ministry Resident for Community Ministries

Walt is a native of North Carolina and a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.  Walt earned a Master of Divinity from McAfee School
of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia.  Walt will serve as Ministry Resident at First Baptist through May, 2010.  Prior to joining First Baptist Church, Walt
served at Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta and with Passportkids.

Debra Garner Haney
Church Business Administrator

Debra is a graduate of Dalton Junior College and West Georgia College.  She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in management. A Georgia native, Debra grew up in Macon and Decatur. She joined the church staff in February 2004 after 26 years with regional banks.  In 2008, she received the designation of Fellow in Church Business Administration (FCBA) from The National Association of Church Business Administration.

Debra is married to Don Haney. They have one adult son, Ryan.
